EXCERPT
The fortune teller laughed to herself as she watched the red-haired mortal racing away. Fortune teller, indeed. It was a role, but an effective one. She’d pushed her further than she’d originally planned, but it didn’t matter. Violet’s fate had already been set into motion. There was nothing that the other woman could do to stop it, even once she realized the truth.
Theodosia tongued her erupted right fang, enjoying the heady taste that came from the droplet of blood, before smiling in satisfaction. The debt she owed could never fully be repaid, but that wasn’t uncommon when it came to matters of life… or death. But Theodosia wasn’t one to forget, especially when she found herself in the role of being indebted to another. It had taken hundreds of years, and more than a little black magic, but it was done.
Whether it would end in triumph or tragedy, she didn’t know. And really, she didn’t care. She’d done her part, the outcome was out of her control. A tall, muscular man walked by, his blood hot and heated from exertion. Her stomach growled, her thoughts turning carnal. Silently, she willed a nearby pedestrian to her table, before gifting the unassuming female the contents. In her life, she had little need of trinkets that foretold of her future. She controlled her own destiny, and fate answered to her.
Imagining how good the young man would taste, Theodosia disappeared into the crowd with a seductive, mysterious smile on her face.

AUTHOR BIO
I’ve often been asked how I’m inspired to write about werewolves, immortals, and zombies. The answer is easy. I adore them.
Be it the Wolf Town Guardians or the Endurers, these characters have been a joy to write about. And why not? What woman wouldn’t love a sexy immortal male or a long-lived werewolf that is destined to have them?
Not all of my books contain plus-sized heroines, but many of them do. I believe in true love and true love isn’t based on a size tag. If you agree with this, I think you will enjoy my books.

Lies Come True
REVIEW
The author starts the novel with a dramatic scene and ends on the same note!
This was an intensely written debut that hooked me! The story line is thrilling, terrifying, and quite hard to predict. Although the series is donned the “Avery Hart Trilogy”, this installment revolves around several other characters. Avery, Noah and Fiona play leading roles, but the secondary characters seem to shine as much as the aforementioned trio. I enjoyed the twists and different points of view, as well as the hint of a blossoming romance. There was a great deal of heartbreak and a few gruesome scenes, but this was handled intelligently which strengthened the story. The ending was shocking and I can’t wait to see what this author has in store for us!
I must warn that this is a cliffhanger, and a doozy at that! I highly recommend to lovers of murder mysteries & thrillers. You won’t be disappointed!
EXCERPT
She turned back up the trail, and pushed herself to go forward. The next few strides hurt less than the first. She picked up her pace, and squinted into the last of the sunlight, as her heart pounded in her chest.
She took deep breaths as she pushed herself harder, confident that she was gaining ground, and when she reached a clearing by the lake, she looked back.
It was a man, or what looked like one, but his face was white. And red.

Excerpt
I swallow anxiously, my heart racing at lightning speed in my chest. “I never do as I’m told. You should know that.” We’ve had our own share of disagreements and butting heads in the past. This feels different, hotter, sexier. I feel my insides ache for release. Will he give it to me or tease me into submission?
Joel’s hand slides beneath my back. His warm touch startles and arouses me. I feel his leg move between mine and his knee climb closer to my groin, adding enough pressure to elicit a moan. I don’t know what will happen tonight and for the moment I don’t care. I want him, more than I’ve ever wanted anything in my life.
“Bad girls get spanked,” Joel whispers into my ear and flips me onto my stomach. Before I have time to respond or fight back, I feel his hands at my sides pulling down my pants and underwear, just enough to expose my bare flesh.

ABOUT THIS LITERARY CHEF
I am a stay at home mom from the South and wife to the most giving and hard working husband ever. I love to cook and try out new recipes even if they don’t always turn out like I want them to. I refer to my kids lovingly as the Three Stooges as they are constantly coming up with new ways to reek havoc in the house. Most recently that included putting a rubberband on the kitchen sink sprayer so it would douse me when I did the dishes. I love to go to roller derby bouts and read in my spare time. I write mostly at night when the house is silent and I can sneak cookies without having to share! Review~The Tutor by Andrea Chapin
Posted by The Literary Melting Pot in Book News, Reviews on April 11, 2015
Hardcover/Paperback: 368 pages
Publisher: Riverhead Books
Release Date: February 5, 2015
SYNOPSIS
The year is 1590, and Queen Elizabeth’s Spanish Armada victory has done nothing to quell her brutal persecution of the English Catholics. Katharine de L’Isle is living at Lufanwal Hall, the manor of her uncle, Sir Edward. Taught by her cherished uncle to read when a child, Katharine is now a thirty-one-year-old widow. She has resigned herself to a life of reading and keeping company with her cousins and their children. But all that changes when the family’s priest, who had been performing Catholic services in secret, is found murdered. Faced with threats of imprisonment and death, Sir Edward is forced to flee the country, leaving Katharine adrift in a household rife with turmoil.
At this time of unrest, a new schoolmaster arrives from Stratford, a man named William Shakespeare. Coarse, quick-witted, and brazenly flirtatious, Shakespeare swiftly disrupts what fragile peace there is left at Lufanwal. Katharine is at first appalled by the boldness of this new tutor, but when she learns he is a poet, and one of talent, things between them begin to shift, and soon Katharine finds herself drawn into Shakespeare’s verse, and his life, in ways that will change her forever.
REVIEW
An intelligently crafted novel that stays true to the time period. The main characters are well developed, the story line is creative, and Chapin’s descriptive nature brings the era to life. Elizabethan literature is not uncommon, but the unique approach used here was a pleasant surprise that I thoroughly enjoyed.
I recommend for lovers of Shakespeare that are sixteen and older.

Melanie never stopped worrying about Gale each time he headed off to war. But he’s never been there when she needed him and she’s had fifteen years to steel her heart against him.
But when Gale moves to Fort Hood, he finally has a chance to make things right with Melanie and the daughter she raised without him.
Can Mel trust her heart to a man who has always let her down?
Review
**This is a review of the original version; therefore, my review may have some obsolete opinions**
I adore Jessica Scott’s novels, as they’re always romantic with a sense of realness.
Gale and Mel were hot-blooded teens when they married and the same when they divorced. This novel covers the aftermath fifteen years later, as the two try to help their daughter cope with mental illness, and a plethora of other things. Since neither quite let go of the love they shared, a rekindling of what once was becomes a passionate story that engrossed two hours of my life! I’m happy to say this was NOT time wasted.
There’s a certain soul to Scott’s writing. I felt the heartbreak as they tried desperately to reach their daughter, my shoulders were heavy with the burden of guilt as they both relived their mistakes, and my breath hitched as each sensual moment arose. The family structure portrayed here was beautiful, and the story line was realistic. PTSD was a forerunner that was written well, and the problems Gale had with his battalion were not out of the realm of possibilities. Mel’s story was one in which many women can relate, and I felt the author portrayed her vulnerabilities and strengths beautifully!
I loved the characters, was mesmerized throughout, and finished the last page with a smile. I look forward to the next installment!
Highly recommend!

Excerpt:
“What if he comes here?”
“He won’t.”
“You don’t know that.”
“You’re right,” he admitted finally. He sighed heavily. “I’ve known him a long time and this doesn’t gel with what I know of him. He’s not going to hurt you.”
“You sound so certain.” Her fingers danced over his ribs, as though she wasn’t sure where to place her hands. “Why?”
“Because you’re mine,” he said, giving voice to the powerful feelings he could finally identify for what they were. “And if he puts his hands on you or our daughter, I’ll kill him.”
And then he kissed her.
It was a powerful kiss, filled with a riot of emotions that had started building in him years ago when she’d first left him. It was a kiss filled with fear. With uncertainty.
With desire.
He gave in to the maelstrom inside him, holding back only enough to be certain that he wasn’t crossing the line.
Mel opened to his kiss, wanting badly to push away the sadness and the fear and the worry that had been squeezing the air from her lungs since she’d found Gale outside her office.
There was fear in her response, a tacit admission that this was something fleeting and yet, it was the only tangible thing between them.
He shifted then until their bodies pressed together, until she breathed with him and felt part of her soul take flight from the bonds of worry and sadness and daily life.
Her fingers flexed against his ribs. Gale felt the moment she gave in to the kiss, savored the moment of her surrender. Her body relaxed against his, fitting perfectly against his chest.
This was something good. Something pure. Untainted by the darkness that had caused him to seek her out today, needing her when he needed to lean. This. This was what he craved. His wife’s touch. His wife’s taste.
She was not his wife. That ugly piece of reality crashed into him and he stiffened.
Mel felt it instantly, her body tensing. “What?”
The words lodged in his throat. There was no way he could admit the feelings that churned inside him. That he still thought of her as his wife after all these years.
He nipped at her bottom lip, hoping to distract her. “We should do this more often.”
He felt her smile beneath his lips. “You think so?” There was something light and breathless in her words.
“Very much so.” He kissed the corner of her mouth. The edge of her jaw.
He traced the outside edge of her ear with the tip of his tongue. Felt the pleasure of her gasp against his cheek. His teeth scraped over her earlobe. “That’s nice,” she breathed.
“You like that?”
“Yeah.”
He closed his eyes, pulling her tight, needing the comfort of her touch, the pleasure to drive away the darkness. He breathed in her scent, holding her close. Her pulse scattered against his cheek and for a moment, he simply held her.
“You make me crazy, Melanie,” he whispered.
