COVER REVEAL BLITZ! Chipped Black Nail Polish by Nicholas Tanek

A tribute to a different kind of Jersey girl.
In New Jersey during the summer of 1989, an awkward thirteen-year-old who was obsessed with weird music fell head-over-heels in love with the coolest post-punk rock girl he had ever met.

Nicholas was insecure. He was a daydreamer, wishing for romance when he was told, over and over, that he could not have it. He was a toy, pulled and pushed, wanted and used, dragged along yet held at a distance. Nicholas fell in with the out crowd, and loved every minute of it. He fell in love and got left behind, but not before she changed him forever.

This is an irrational, emotional love story for the teenager inside all of us.

The music is loud, and you’re about to be pushed into the pit.

What some people are saying…

“I should have put you in therapy.” – my mother

“I insist that you use my real name.” – Kevin

“Finally, a title that doesn’t scare people off. Not like the first book, The Coolest
Way to Kill Yourself.” – Kim Gray, publicist

Foreword by Wendy Buck

Three months after I read Nicholas’ first book, The Coolest Way to Kill Yourself, my thirteen-year-old daughter, M, told me she was a lesbian. I did not know Nicholas before reading his first book, but he has since become a close friend and confidant. I shared M’s news with him and his response was that I had to write a foreword for his next book. I asked him for the correlation between her announcement and his book, because I didn’t get it. And I fought him on it. What does being gay have in common with being punk rock? He told me to think about the term in a non-music sort of way. What does it represent? And so I did what I always do. I went away and I thought about what he said. Chipped Black Nail Polish takes place when I was a teenager, during the height of punk rock. As so many of us did, I promised myself I would never grow up to be one of those adults who forgot where she came from. The music was important, but more than that, what punk rock stood for took center stage for me: the do it- yourself philosophy, questioning the norm, thinking critically, and pushing the boundaries of acceptability. But above all of those things, the most basic characteristic of punk rock is to be true to one’s self. But, I broke that promise. I lost sight of myself and became ii someone I thought I should be in the eyes of my peers. And so, Nicholas and his book came along shortly after I started questioning my decisions and choices in life. Not only have I benefited from his being such a good friend, but so too has my daughter. I raise M to be a free thinker and she is very much a free spirit. When I look at her, I am so proud of the young woman she is becoming. She will make her mark. And just like how she came out to the world, she will do it in her own way and in her own time. Do not rush this child, and do not expect her to do it the normal way. She is a weirdo. Nicholas has captured only one summer, three months, in this book. These months were pinnacle in defining him as an adult. He, too, was thirteen during the events that took place. I am so grateful that Kim entered his life, for however brief that time was. She taught him to live in acceptance of one’s self, to question everything, to stretch himself outside his perceived comfort zone. She taught him punk rock. She taught him it was okay to be a weirdo.

Nicholas Tanek grew up as a New Jersey punk rock skater kid who lost himself in the early 90’s New York City rave scene. After years of drug addiction, he got his life together when he was reunited with Lynn, the love of his life, before she died at the age of 37. Instead of choosing negativity, he chose creativity. Losing Lynn inspired him to write his first book, The Coolest Way To Kill Yourself. Kindle Blast! BAD FOR ME by CODI GARY #BFMBlast

All she has to do is take a chance…

Publication Date: April 6, 2015Genre: Contemporary Romance

Callie Jacobsen isn’t about to open her heart to just anyone. Not so very long ago, trusting someone changed her life forever—and not in a fun way. Now she’s better off focusing on her career, her friends, and her dog. So when former Marine Everett Silverton takes an interest in her, Callie’s more than a little wary. No matter how charming he is, men are a bad idea. In fact, she’s got the scars to prove it. But Everett isn’t convinced Callie should shut everyone out—especially not him. He may be a hero to the people of Rock Canyon, but he’s got his own demons, and he bets they’re not that different from Callie’s. Still, he knows it’s going to take more than chemistry to get her to let her guard down. Everett will do whatever it takes to show her she’s safe with him. All she has to do is take a chance, take a step … and take his hand.

00002
“I’ve almost got it.”
“Thank you. This was really nice of you, especially when I haven’t given you a reason to be.”
Everett looked up at her, wiping the rain off his face so he could meet her gaze. “You seem to assume that just because people are kind to you, they want something. Sometimes people help because it’s the right thing to do.”
Her gaze shifted away, and he went back to tightening the nuts on the wheel. He’d said his piece, but knew he wasn’t going to convince Callie with words that his intentions were honorable.
He had to prove it to her.
When he finished, he released the jack and gathered up all the tools, sliding them back in the spare tire kit. “I’ll put this and the new tire in the back, and you’ll be good to go. I’ll haul this one off to the dump for you.”
She knelt down next to him and took the kit from him, their fingers brushing. Despite the chill of their skin, heat sizzled between them, sending a shot of awareness down his throat. Her blonde curls were wet and falling out of her messy top knot, and drops of rain were clinging to her cheeks. Before he could stop himself, he traced the pad of his thumb across one, catching the cool droplet on his skin. Her amber eyes widened, and he dropped his hand, cursing his impulse.
“Sorry. You had something on your cheek.”
Callie cleared her throat and stood up. “It’s okay.”
He climbed to his feet and couldn’t help wondering if she’d felt something too. Was that why she kept pulling away?
But if she didn’t want him, why was he pushing?
Because she doesn’t treat you like a defective puppy she’d have to fix.
Grabbing her spare tire from the back of his truck, he slid it into the back of her Jeep. She stood back as he closed the door, and he could tell she was nervous—her hands kept twisting.
“Well, you’re all set. You should get home and change out of those wet clothes. If you get sick, I’ll have to listen to one of those ridiculous weekend deejays, and they play nothing but crap.”
Everett started to head back to his truck, but she caught his hand. “Hey.”
Just the touch of her hand sent his heart from a trot to a gallop. He loved the way her soft skin wrapped around his.
Facing her, he waited, afraid to move a muscle and scare her off.
But she moved so fast, he wasn’t prepared when her lips brushed the scarred side of his face. He stiffened as the warmth seeped through his cheek, his stomach twisting up as a thousand thoughts and insecurities made him wince. Had the roughness repelled her? Why hadn’t she picked the untouched side?
“Thank you. For being kind.”
Callie dropped his hand and ran to her car, as if afraid he would come after her. As she started it and pulled forward, he was finally able to move again, backing up a ways to watch her disappear down the road.
Everett’s hand came up to rest against his cheek, and he realized that he’d lied to Callie when he said he didn’t want anything from her.
He wanted everything.

RELEASE DAY BLITZ! LADY OF THE FLAMES by BARBARA MONAJEM

Lady of the Flames
by Barbara Monajem
Series: A Most Peculiar Season
Genre: Regency Historical Paranormal Romance
Release Date: March 23, 2015

Magic is fraught with peril—but so is love.

Lord Fenimore Trent’s uncanny affinity for knives and other sharp blades led to knife fights, duels, and murderous brawls. Five years ago, he faced a choice: marry Andromeda Gibbons, the woman he loved, or find a safe, peaceful use for his blades by opening a furniture shop—an unacceptable occupation for a man of noble birth. The choice made itself when Andromeda turned to another man. The furniture shop prospered, but now Fen’s partner has been accused of treason. In order to root out the real traitor, he may face another unpalatable choice—to resort to the violent use of his blades once again.

Once upon a time, Andromeda Gibbons believed in magic. That belief faded after her mother’s death and vanished completely when Lord Fenimore, the man she loved, spurned her. Five years later, Andromeda has molded herself into a perfect—and perfectly unhappy—lady. When she overhears her haughty betrothed, the Earl of Slough, plotting treason, she flees into the London night—to Fen, the one man she knows she can trust. But taking refuge with Fen proves to mean far more than getting help—it means learning to believe in love, magic, and the real Andromeda once again.

“It’s time for bed now,” Fen said.

Andromeda’s eyes widened, but mercifully she was too exhausted to try any of her wiles on him. Not that she seemed so inclined at the moment, but earlier, when their eyes had met for a few seconds, he’d wondered. Oh, how he remembered kissing and licking those lovely feet—and stopping right there, for if he hadn’t, his tongue would have wandered elsewhere and feasted indeed.

He knew for certain that she remembered it, too.

But he also doubted that she could undress by herself. “There are no women here, so I suppose I’ll have to unlace your stays.” He knew he sounded surly but couldn’t help it. Time was when he’d wanted nothing more than to love this woman forever.

“If you don’t mind,” she said stiffly, standing up, hissing as her injured feet touched the rug. She pulled a small reticule from the top of her stays and set it on the dresser. “If I can put up with it, surely you can, too.”

He swore under his breath and went behind her to undo the hooks at the back of the gown. Quickly, he unlaced her stays and stood back. “I’ll give you something of mine to wear. It’ll be too big, but you need more than a shift.” He went over to his chest of drawers, pulled out a nightshirt, and tossed it onto the bed.

This would not be comfortable or easy, but they both had to sleep. “There’s a chamber pot under the bed. I’ll be back in a few minutes.” He went to the door. “Call me when you’re ready.”

“Ready for what?”

“To go to bed.” She frowned, and he added, “When you’ve changed into the nightshirt and used the chamber pot and done whatever else you have to do. There’s a hairbrush on the dressing table if you need it.”

“Very well, but why would I call you?”

“So I can come to bed, too,” he said.

She was already pale with fatigue, but now she went stark white. “You can’t come to bed…in here…with me!”

Considering the way she’d thrown herself at him five years ago, this should be hilarious. It wasn’t. It made him want to swear and throw things. “I have nowhere else to sleep.”

“No other bedchambers?”

“One, but it belongs to my valet.”

“No settee? No sofa?” She clenched her small fists.

“Only chairs. And before you ask, we’re out of sofas in the shop, too.” A damned good thing, because he didn’t relish sleeping in the showroom for all his workers to find in the morning. “I need what little sleep I can get. The next few days are going to be hell in too many ways.”

If she took that as an insult, so be it. She put her hands on her hips and tried to look fierce, but her lip trembled.

He relented a little. “Don’t be a fool, Andromeda. We’re not going to do anything we shouldn’t.”

She narrowed her eyes. “No, we certainly are not.”

Lord, what a fiasco. “Then what’s bothering you?”

“I won’t be able to sleep at all if you’re naked!”

He burst out laughing. Was that all that bothered her?

“It’s not proper,” she shouted, crimson with rage. The fire crackled, sounding as angry as she. “It’s not right!”

“Hush,” he retorted. “Someone might hear you.”

“Just because I’m now completely ruined doesn’t mean I should be treated like a trollop.”

Where had she got that idea? He’d thought he was treating her rather well. “I won’t be naked, you idiotic girl,” he said. “I’ll wear what I have on now.”

“It’s still not right,” she said. “I’m unmarried. I can’t share my bed with a man.”

“In case you have forgotten,” he said between his teeth, “it’s my bed, and I don’t want you there, either.” He lit a candle from the branch on the dresser and went to the door. “But unless you wish to sleep on the floor, that’s the way it will be.” He left the room, shutting the door behind him.

Excerpt

“It’s OK, Anissa. We don’t need to rehash that incident now. I’m just reminding us both that – even though you are the most angelic woman I’ve ever met – you’re still human,” he added with a gentle smile, as he lightly put his hand on mine. “So I’m still taking a risk by sharing this with you.”

“I understand that,” I conceded.

“Good. So before I take that risk, I need your most solemn oath that – whatever happens between us – you will never repeat what I’m about to uncover for the first time ever… ” His stare seemed to penetrate my eyes, probing deep into my interior. With so much solemnity surrounding his revelation, whatever it was, I almost didn’t want him to tell me anymore. “Because once I tell you this, there’s no going back.”

I took a hard swallow and braced myself to receive something that I could never share with anyone. “I swear to you, Julien, on the memory of my blessed parents, and on the future of my people, that I will never tell a soul.”

He nodded slightly, as if to acknowledge my vow, and took his hand back. He let out a deep breath, and his hands began to fidget a little, as if he was trying to decide where and how to begin. I put my glass down on the coffee table, wanting to concentrate as much as possible on whatever he was about to say. After a few moments of silence, he finally spoke.

About The Author

Zack Love graduated from Harvard College, where he studied mostly literature, psychology, philosophy, and film. After college, he moved to New York City and took a corporate consulting job that had absolutely nothing to do with his studies. The attacks of September 11, 2001 inspired him to write a novelette titled “The Doorman” and heightened his interest in the Middle East. A decade later, that interest extended to the Syrian Civil War, which provided the backdrop for his latest work. In late 2013, Zack began releasing his unpublished works of fiction and became a full-time author. He has published comedy, psychological and philosophical fiction, and romance. Zack enjoys confining himself to one genre about as much as he likes trying to sum up his existence in one paragraph.

Excerpt: Captain’s Surprise

I close my eyes and draw in a long, slow breath. “Listen, Kade, I’m honored that you got up at 5:30 in the morning to spend time with me, but I don’t do this,” I say, as I wave my hand back and forth between us.

“I’ve been up since 4:30 thinking about spending time with you,” he says, with a playful smile.
I roll my eyes. “Your room is right next to mine, and our walls are paper-thin. I heard your alarm, asshat.”
He shrugs, as if saying I tried. “Anyway, what do you mean by this?” he asks, now waving his hands between us.
“Talking, hanging out, friendships, relationships. All of it; I don’t do any of it.”
He narrows his eyes. “You have two friends in there that I’ve seen you talk to and hang out with.”
I can’t help the frustrated grunt that escapes. “I didn’t want friends, but they showed up looking all comfy with their marathon biker shows, and stayed at my house all day… Keegan’s all straightforward and Gemma’s so damn cute… I tried to say no.”
I’m rambling and I know it, but I can’t seem to stop. I’m looking everywhere but at Kade, and one of my legs is bouncing nervously.
“Then they keep making me go out… where I meet new people… and I have to talk to those people too… and they say funny stuff and make me smile… so I feel bad telling them I don’t want friends… then the next thing I know I’m living here and I have two best friends.” I let out one final huff, then make eye contact and plead, “I just want to be by myself, with my horses, alone in my own head. I don’t want to laugh and have fun. I want to go back to being cranky and alone, at least for a few hours.”

“You know that social isolation can alter functioning of the brain? Can lead to depression, health issues, and even impulsive behavior.”

I raise my eyebrows, unclear what he is saying.
Kade attempts to explain. “It’s like your horses. They’re social animals, so if you separate one from the herd, what happens to it?”
It becomes depressed and/or highly agitated. I don’t answer out loud, because it’s clear he already knows.
“They become extremely agitated,” he says, proving me right. “After an extended period of time of separation, the stress will begin to affect their health and they will even injure themselves in an attempt to get back to the herd.”
This is true. I’ve seen a horse go through fences to get back to its herd.
I gesture for him to get off my truck. “Okay, thanks for the lesson on isolation, but I have hungry horses waiting for me.”
Kade’s expression changes to hurt. “I just want to get to know you.”
Now I stomp my foot, getting frustrated at my failure to chase him away. “Well, I don’t want to get to know you,” I spit. It’s harsh, but I’m desperate to get away from him. Away from all the things he makes me feel.
Kade lifts both hands in surrender. “Okay, I’ll let you go play with your horses and be grumpy in peace.”
He jumps down off the tailgate and dusts off his pants. He takes a few steps, then stops when he’s next to me. He places his hand on the small of my back and leans in, so that his mouth is only an inch from my ear. “If you feel like trying the friendship-slash-hanging out thing later, I’ll be home all day.”
Surprisingly, I don’t feel the all-consuming anxiety take over my body at his touch. I clear my throat and step away. When I turn to lift my tailgate, I realize Kade left his bowl of cereal and pick it up with one hand, then instantly cover my mouth with my other hand. “What is this?”
He reaches out, retrieving the offending object from my hand. “I call it Captain’s Surprise. When I can’t decide what kind of cereal to eat I just dump them all in.” He looks down into the bowl. “Now it’s just Soggy Surprise.”
“That’s disgusting,” I say, with my hand still covering my mouth, I’m trying to hide my smile. When Kade smiles back, before turning to back into the apartment, I know I failed.

Meet Deanna Eshler

I’m a Licensed Clinical Counselor, with a masters degree, but I choose not use my degree. In 2013 I quit my job, working with foster kids and families, to stay at home with my 2 kids. That decision is one of my better ones to date.

In addition to my education in counseling, I am certified through EAGALA to provide Equestrian Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP). That training, and subsequent work using horses to help kids heal, is partially where my inspiration for Shy’s story began. Watching children, and families, gain insight into their own behaviors through the horses has been an amazing process. I should mention that I’m not currently using this certification either. I like to gather information, training, titles, but I’m not big on utilizing my new skills.

I started reading, for fun, around 2007. I thank Harry Potter for showing me that escaping in a book is the best therapy. Since that time, I have read more than 500 books. This is one thing I have stayed committed to. I prefer audio books, since I can fold clothes and read at the same time, but I usually have a kindle book I’m reading simultaneously.

I decided to write my own novel when I realized there are not enough books in the New Adult genre. This is my favorite genre, thanks to Colleen Hoover and Jamie McGuire. Once I started writing Shy’s story, I couldn’t have stopped if I wanted to. Sometimes she would wake me in the middle of the night to tell me what the next chapter was about. Writing her story, as well as her horse’s-Walker, was an emotional adventure. I hope you enjoy reading her story, as much as I enjoyed writing it.

“It’s something you know I need to do. Maybe it’s fine, right?” He squeezed her hand. “If it is, we can work together, but I can’t chance it. We can’t both be taken. I know you realize that.”

Tears formed and she blinked them back. “All right. But we’ll stay close, and we will get you out if need be.”

“I’ll go with you to contact them, Rico.”

Jackson leaned into Rico. “Get Lexy out of here and keep her safe. I’ll get out on my own if I need to, understood?”

“Yes, of course, but Jackson, we’re all in this together. We have been since you asked us to go get her. We’re a team, and this team doesn’t leave men behind. You got that? You’ve been trying to separate yourself for a while now. That’s on you. You got some kind of guilt trip going on, fine. We’ll do what we have to do. Nothing you have to say is going to change that.”

They stared at each other for a moment and then stepped into the Stryker.

“We have one taker for your offer. The rest of us have somewhere to be, over.”

About This Literary Chef

 author photo

I grew up in a small northern Minnesotan town, married my high school sweetheart, had two beautiful children and as soon as we could, we moved to a warmer climate. I have worked with my husband building and decorating custom homes for years. After loving every kind of vampire book, movie, and series, I decided that I wanted to know more. I can write a book I thought, how hard can that be? Well, very hard. But I stuck to it and finished my first book Royal Blood Chronicles Book One, Katrina, The Beginning, in August 2009. There are now nine books in that series; The Protectors, The Dark Prince, Cain, the Quest, Bloodline and Legacy, Redemption and Destiny, and book nine Sabine, with book ten- Power of the Secret -out this fall.

I’ve also started to write mystery/suspense contemporary adult romances under my E.L. Loraine brand. The first release is Corporate Ties, A Silken Ties Novel, the second a sweeter romance – Western Escape. A second Silken Ties Novel will be released in August 2014.
The feedback has been great. I have also released Phantom Lives – Collier, and new paranormal series, book two of that series Phantom Lives – Power, book three to be out around Christmas. I also have just published book one of my Shifter Chronicles – Green River. My parents always told me that I could do anything that I wanted, work hard, study, and do it right. I believe that and live that way every day.

I started writing this new vampire series for teens and their moms because I myself wanted something different to read. I was tired of all the modern versions of vampire books, there had to be more to these long-lived beings. Where had they been, what had they seen? I wanted, no I NEEDED to know more so Royal Blood Chronicles was born! Strong female characters and action and adventure mixed with romance, friendship, and a historical backdrop. Phantom Lives continues with another strong female character, which is very important to me. Phantom Lives is a modern day, paranormal romance, filled with mystery, magical places, and beings.

 Excerpt
 Chapter 1-
Kaine sat at his desk and read his brother Aohdan’s letter over. Kaine! Da is sick! You have to come back home. Aiden was told to not write. I was away and when I returned Da was down. Brother it hurts me to see him this way. I do not know if he will be in this world for long and it worries me. Rua Rainer has stepped up to help the young ones and my fur bunches to think Aiden or I were because of how he is taking care of the young ones. Kaine come home! No more wasting time away. Ma is gone, and Da has been going downhill for years. He tells you only what he wants you to know. He knows you will not listen to anything else. Brother I am telling you, get your ass home. This time listen to me. Rua will take the lead if Da dies and our family will no longer rule these mountains. Kaine stopped reading, grabbed his keys off his desk and walked out of the office to his car. Once inside the car he slammed his fist against the window pain. He could care less that he’d hit the window so hard it shook. He yelled, “Da, what are you thinking letting that animal come near our clan?” Kaine pounded the steering wheel. His body was tense, and his blue eyes turned gray. He needed to calm himself he thought. He got out of his car and walked away before he did any damage inside. Despite his temperament, he found himself headed in the direction of the nearby park. For six years, he’d stayed away from the Rocky Mountains. His father and brothers still lived near the stream at Oakea. The family was midway into the mountains but not too far up that the weather does not change. The cabin that his grandfather and grandmother built for their family still stood sturdy through tough winter storms. Kaine’s father, Stephan Maccon, and siblings helped keep the land around the cabin cleared and vegetated. The lower village’s townspeople stayed clear of particular paths in the mountains if they hiked. Anyone who walked close to that area would say the area above where they did not trespass was not feasible to vegetation. They also passed gossip around that it was dangerous for folks if they trekked higher up because there was a strange type of wolf that dwelled in that area. His grandmother, Stephan’s mother, who died several years before Kaine came into the world, loved her flower beds and tended them until she expected the first frost. She would fill their cabin with the scent of freshly cut wildflowers during their springs and summers. His brothers and sisters had separate areas to rest their heads, but when they were old enough they went off on their own. Mostly the boys, the girls lived nearby in the village of Oakea. Kaine heard these stories over and over as he grew up. As he walked closer to the parks edge, he watched children playing and mothers sitting nearby watching and chatting with others on benches. The park was near his office, and he usually went there to think. Today he went there to figure out what he would do about his brother’s letter. His younger brother Aiden was only twenty-one years old, he’d heard Aiden had a backbone but not enough to take on someone like Rua Rainer. Aohdan, twenty-six, strong willed, but more of a nature lover like their grandmother, had not sufficient strength to take on any Rainer, Kaine thought. Perhaps one of the others in Rainer’s pack, but not Rua himself. Anyone who took on a pack leader had to be as strong as his Da, and cocky. Willful wasn’t enough; they had to be that assured of themselves to fight for what was right, and fight to kill if needed. With a tensed body and balled fist, Kaine cursed his father. Dammit Da! Why did you have to get sick and not tell me? Why? Why is it so hard to speak to me? So I left! So I made a life for me! I deserved a bit of freedom. I worked hard to get where I am, and I refuse to…. He stopped. He knew his next thoughts would be lies, and he could not lie to himself. He wanted to say he would not go home. However, he knew if Rua took over as pack leader, the Maccon’s would be shunned and run off their land. Kaine turned away from the children who agitated him, because they stirred up memories of his childhood.

Interview with Taabia
Where do you get your inspiration from? One of the things that I am really drawn to is art and photography. I can see a picture and a story comes to light. Another way that I am inspired is by watching people. I can be anywhere and notice someone and instantly I become enthralled in an idea that they would make a great character. I have an unlimited source inside my head. I believe writers call them muses, and psychologist call them voices. (Big grin)

What words of wisdom would you pass on to other aspiring authors? I tend to tell anyone who is interested in writing, write. Write your name, tell your story on a piece of paper. Find something of interest and write about that or write what in your head. Worry about grammar later. There are editors and proofreaders out there that will be more than happy to help you succeed. Don’t give up if anyone tells you that what you have written isn’t good enough. Join writer groups, find peers that are like you so you won’t feel alone. Get support and ideas from these groups that will enhance what you already know about your writing. Never give up, and always keep learning about what’s new out there in genres. Also, write outside of your box just once to have the experience of doing something different. Make your writing a challenge, and try not to be like everyone else, be different. Lastly, be leery of a good thing. If you are offered a contract, make sure you not the only one reading the fine print. Money may sound good, but be wise not to sell your soul. There are going to be people who want to read and review your work, be sure to copyright. Publish your work first before giving your work to a blogger or reviewer.

What is your favorite book you have written? Favorite character? I loved writing all of my books, but my favorite character to write is Jessica of the Anthony Stone Series, book 1 Jessica’s Obsession. That first book was way outside of my box. It started with an idea. I wanted to stay within my erotica genre but I wanted to play around with mystery too. The model and pro ex-wrestler John Quinlan has many fans, and some are pretty wild about him. So, as I was reading one of his post one day on Facebook, I recalled a person who tried to use his name as their own. I remember when it happened John and I talked about this guy and how John had to get this guy blocked. While I read this particular post an adoring fan of his was saying how John inspired her. John thanked her and that anything that he has done to inspire anyone in their life is what keeps him humbled. Then I thought if I put a story together where a guy had someone so in love with him that she wanted to stalk him, what would happen. My character Jessica was born. I loved writing about Jessica because she is twisted, and will stop at nothing to get what she wants. I even surprised John and put his real name into the first book as himself. John is on both covers, Jessica’s Obsession and book two Flagentio’s. John has said he has gotten many types of fans in his past and present day.

What made you choose wolves? What led you to write this book? I have been fascinated by wolves since childhood. I learned about my families mixed heritage, and Blackfoot and Cherokee where among the largest part of my families past. I studied American Indian culture, plus learned about the different types of tribal people. As my studies progressed into college I learned my totem was the wolf. No surprise to me, my fascination had turned to love. I’d always wanted to write a story that included wolves and it finally came to past when Billy Thomas, a bodybuilder, showed up to a photo shoot at a writer’s convention in Vegas. Billy became my cover model for WolfsBlood. His picture, his personality, and my idea of what a hero should be, made up the blend of the heart of a wolf. That is when I began to write the story about Kaine Maccon, and his clan. The name Kaine Maccon came from two contest winners for a competition I posted for fans to come up with a name for my main character in WolfsBlood. The name became the symbolism of heart and loyalty, like a wolf.

Who is your biggest author inspiration? I would have to say there are four authors that inspired me, Judy Blume, Piers Anthony, David Eddings, and Tolkein. Judy Blume wrote Are You There God It’s Me Margaret, and ever girl back then wanted to increase their breast or know about menstrual cycles didn’t they? Ha. My best friend and I did, and after that I read every one of her books, even into adulthood. I liked her style and how she could put the reader inside the story. Which made her in my book, a great storyteller. Anthony, Eddings, and Tolkein are three of my favorite fantasy writers. I never thought I could write fantasy. There is a fantasy novel inside of me dying to get out, and because of these gentlemen, I will write that epic novel. They took me on many journeys and had me believing every place I went was real, until the end of the book of course. Then I was back to reality wanting more. I want to write books like that I said, and I am hoping that I am on my may to being just as great as they are to millions of readers.

Who do you picture playing the characters of your book if it were to be made into a movie/tv show? This is my list so far that I have come up with for my wish list of stars to play my characters. Link to my IF List http://www.iflist.com/stories/wolfsblood#
