TOUR STOP! VIOLET CHAIN by @JanelleKahele

One
The silent communication in her eyes, the stillness of her body told me she knew I
was hurting.
Her hand cupped the nape of my neck. “It’s okay, I’m here—I’m here,” she whispered
as she kissed each tear on my cheek.
She slanted her mouth to capture mine and kissed me slowly as her hand curled around
my body, pulling me against hers. I drew a breath and held it as her lips
caressed my neck.
I was falling.
Deeply.
Unconditionally.
In love with her.
A chill swept across me as the warmth of her body left mine and she sat up,
sliding off the t-shirt I had given her to wear to bed, then slid on top of me.
Her deft fingers slipped beneath the waistband of my boxers, light kisses
raining from her lips against my skin as she moved down my body, sliding my
boxers off and throwing them to the side. She reached to the nightstand to grab
a condom, when my hand stopped hers. I wanted to feel all of her—bare.
Her eyes blinked hard as I flipped her over and slid on top of her.
As our sleek bodies moved feverishly against each other, I held her tight, wanting
to remember the smell of her hair, the touch of her skin, the taste of her
lips. This was where I wanted to be, this was where I belonged, buried inside
of her.
As we found our release together, her body fell limp against mine and I wrapped my
arms around her, never wanting to let her go. I raised my head to look down at
her and could see tears forming in her eyes and I knew for that moment, she was
completely mine and I was hers. And I knew I was ruined, I would never feel the
same way about another woman as I felt about Violet. I kissed her softly
on the lips.
Two
His hand slid to the curve of my back and he pulled me into a deep embrace. My eyes met his and they gleamed with a
softness and gentleness that took my breath away. He smiled as he slid his
finger down my cheek, across my chin, before slipping back into a kiss. I
didn’t know if it was the way his lips softly touched mine, or if it was the
loving way he had looked into my eyes, but everything about Chain at that
moment captured my heart.
He placed feather kisses across my collarbone, the curve of my neck, my jaw, and
then claimed my lips. The kiss was soft, slow and lingering. As our lips parted
our tongues met in sync. I held him close, wanting to remember his strong shoulders,
the touch of his skin to mine. His hand caressed the inside of my thigh and I
moaned, then he curled me close to him and kissed me with a passion that made
my heart skip a beat.
As our bodies slowly moved against each other, I felt something reaching deep
inside of me, gripping at my heart, overwhelming my emotions, causing tears to
stream uncontrollably from my eyes. Chain lifted his head, staring into my
eyes, and I saw he was mirroring the same feelings as I.
As he circled his hips slowly, we found our release together and I exhaled
sharply. That familiar feeling filled me, that stabbing, aching feeling.
It surrounded me.
Engulfed me.
Suffocated me.
I turned away from Chain, hugging my pillow, my mind drifting off into a pit of
despair. As much as I tried to fight it, to run from it, there was no denying
that I was falling hard for Chain Alexander and there was no way of escaping.
relieve the scattered thoughts that stream through my mind, constantly. My
biggest downfall is that I am a huge procrastinator, which makes my life at
times hectic!

Every facet of Ivy Pierce’s life is meticulously planned out and plotted. Cynical and jaded by sixteen, Ivy’s only hope is to escape the legacy she was born into.
She has a plan, a carefully thought out, feasible plan. She just has to play by the rules until everything falls into place. Unfortunately as predictable as her life can be, she never sees Ryder Sutton coming. He tumbles into her life unimpressed and untouched by her and the life she lives. He’s an enigma to her. A gorgeous, frustrating, sincere mystery and a complete phenomenon in the ugly world she lives in.
What blooms between them is a fiercely intense attraction that cannot be ignored. Even though they would both be better off without each other—Even if both their lives depend on staying apart.

In Ivy Pierce’s world, Greek mythology is reality. Sirens, like herself, use men for money, power and status; but she has the greatest gift of all. Stronger than any of the Siren’s before her, Ivy’s attraction alludes to a prophecy that could mean the rebirth of Greek gods and goddesses for our modern time.
The Fates believe she is the symbol of a new era. Her mother believes she is the key to ultimate power in their Greek circle. And Nix, her godfather and god of the sea, believes she belongs to him.
Ivy doesn’t want any part of her world or the people that demand so much of her. With the help of Ryder Sutton, her closest friend, she will fight against fate, against the expectations of her society and against the desires of a monster that will do anything to possess her.
And through it all she will deny her feelings for the one person she loves more than anything in order to protect him.
While her future crumbles around her, Ivy will go to extreme lengths to free herself from her glass prison—or drown trying.

Ivy Pierce has been to Hades and back trying to escape Nix and his evil plans to use her. After a failed attempt to save her loved ones, she was forced to leave her friends, her sister and the boy she had fallen in love with, Ryder Sutton.
And yet Olympus isn’t finished with her yet.
As Nix plots to overthrow the legendary mountain, Ivy is pulled back into the twisted, manipulative world of the Greek pantheon. Thrust into the middle of an ancient feud, Ivy will learn quickly that Nix is not the only threat to her freedom and not the only god interested in using her unique skillset to resurrect the Age of Olympus.
In a deadly game between two powerful factions of Greek gods, Ivy will have to battle both fate and the Fates in order to secure her future once and for all. She will discover new powers, fight for her friends’ lives and convince the only boy she has ever loved that he can trust her again.
In the end, she’ll learn the hardest lesson of all. This isn’t a fable or a Greek myth, her life is a love story.

With Olie and Rianna’s help, the children’s circle of three creates a strong bond that fights against the evil forces of the realm. Review
What a magical debut!
I simply adored this creatively crafted novel! Sara’s journey begins in a miserable world in which she is helpless and alone, but she finds strength from within. A sweet heroine, deserving of the great power she possesses, is always a wonderful example for our young ladies. Of course, the boys are an excellent addition to story as well. Each new character is introduced smoothly, allowing an even flow, and the story never lacks adventure. Once I began reading this book, I couldn’t put it down! Exciting, fun, and captivating!
Appropriately written for ages eleven and beyond!

Excerpt: Captain’s Surprise
I close my eyes and draw in a long, slow breath. “Listen, Kade, I’m honored that you got up at 5:30 in the morning to spend time with me, but I don’t do this,” I say, as I wave my hand back and forth between us.

“You know that social isolation can alter functioning of the brain? Can lead to depression, health issues, and even impulsive behavior.”

Meet Deanna Eshler
I’m a Licensed Clinical Counselor, with a masters degree, but I choose not use my degree. In 2013 I quit my job, working with foster kids and families, to stay at home with my 2 kids. That decision is one of my better ones to date.
In addition to my education in counseling, I am certified through EAGALA to provide Equestrian Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP). That training, and subsequent work using horses to help kids heal, is partially where my inspiration for Shy’s story began. Watching children, and families, gain insight into their own behaviors through the horses has been an amazing process. I should mention that I’m not currently using this certification either. I like to gather information, training, titles, but I’m not big on utilizing my new skills.
I started reading, for fun, around 2007. I thank Harry Potter for showing me that escaping in a book is the best therapy. Since that time, I have read more than 500 books. This is one thing I have stayed committed to. I prefer audio books, since I can fold clothes and read at the same time, but I usually have a kindle book I’m reading simultaneously.
I decided to write my own novel when I realized there are not enough books in the New Adult genre. This is my favorite genre, thanks to Colleen Hoover and Jamie McGuire. Once I started writing Shy’s story, I couldn’t have stopped if I wanted to. Sometimes she would wake me in the middle of the night to tell me what the next chapter was about. Writing her story, as well as her horse’s-Walker, was an emotional adventure. I hope you enjoy reading her story, as much as I enjoyed writing it.

REVIEW
I was lucky enough to receive this gorgeous paperback, which is the format I highly recommend, in exchange for an honest review.
This was such an absolute delight to read! The illustration is exquisite, and the creative ideas provided before each chapter are quite resourceful. Adri and Lorea are adorable, the “Bridezilla” is incorrigible, and the mystery is elusive. I love Christensen’s writing style, and her descriptive narrative makes every setting, taste, smell, and feeling almost tangible. The websites and craft ideas are pure genius! Elegant, descriptive, and entertaining!

REVIEW
This was a fast-paced read that I simply could not put down!
I admit that I was expecting more content pertaining to the wars during this period, but the author has done a superb job of delivering a thrilling alternative.
Mack and Cassie are intelligent, gorgeous, and very hard-headed! Both have inner demons, which sometimes cloud their judgment. It is this, along with a few other similarities that cause the fiery couple to butt heads. These altercations can be comedic, heartbreaking, and incredibly sexy! I enjoyed reading as the layers were peeled back and our hero and heroine were truly revealed.
This novel stands alone well. Each sorrowful scene was countered with either comedic relief, or an act of kindness. The mystery involved had me second guessing everyone, and I couldn’t get enough of the passion! I will be reading the rest of the author’s work, as the secondary characters are too wonderfully written to ignore. I thoroughly enjoyed this novel, and I recommend it for romance and mystery lovers.
About This Literary Chef
From a young age I could always be found carrying around books to read while watching my grandmother’s soap operas with her. I read anything and everything I could get my hands on and even made up skits and stories for my friends and me to act out. Once I outgrew the children’s and YA books, my mom introduced me to an entirely new world – contemporary romance. Upon discovering I had a love for history I began devouring historical romances. One day, sitting in a college British History class, something the professor said made me think, I wonder. I quickly called mom (also a writer) and ran the idea by her. After being told, “Of course you can do it, you’re my daughter,” the rest, as they say, is history. I currently share my love of reading with the next generation as a high school librarian, and share my personal life with my demanding dog trapped in a cat’s body, Ajax.

One man obsessed with power.
One woman prepared to sacrifice everything to stop him.
One war that changed the world.
“World War Three lasted twelve days. Twelve days was all it took for mankind to devastate the planet and almost eradicate the human race. No victor emerged from the ashes and billions lost their lives.
We survivors lived through the bleakest of winters. A primal existence became the new order, and the little that remained of our humanity hung in the balance.
Then one man stood up and changed the world. I believed, as did everyone else, that he was the hero of our time, the man who had saved us from our own demise. His name is Eric Dane and he is the President of the New United States of America.
He is also my husband, and my greatest enemy.
I grew up oblivious to the truth, until my father found me when I was nineteen years old. He told me about the many horrifying facts that our new leader kept hidden from us. And he told me that beyond the borders the Resistance grew and fought for freedom from the oppression that Eric Dane had imposed on us.
My name is Rebecca Davis. I am twenty-six years old, and in me the Resistance has found the ultimate weapon.”
A narrative of good and evil, love and passion, right and wrong – and at the centre of the story a strong woman who is prepared to sacrifice everything for the cause she believes in.
The Legacy is an action-packed, adrenalin-inducing thrill ride which will leave you riveted long after you have turned the last page.
REVIEW
I’m not usually a big fan of post-apocalyptic novels, but Melissa Delport makes it easy to forget my prejudices.
The beginning covers the basics of life after nuclear war and how our heroine and her family survived. Delport doesn’t show all of her cards up front, which caught me off guard a few times, but I loved the surprises! The science-fiction twist added complexity and great fighting scenes. Narration is solely from Rebecca’s point of view, but it’s one of many redeeming qualities. I loved this novel, and its originality.
I was intrigued throughout this novel, and felt quite anxious as the story became more aggressive with information towards the end. Character background is given expertly and the narration held my interest throughout. I loved the heroine, but it takes a great story teller to make someone so determined relatable. “For the greater good” is much easier said than done for most, but this novel is full of characters that lived this motto. It was hard not to become attached to those fighting for a better life and heartbreaking when lives were lost.
There’s a different point of view at the end, which I assume is the epilogue for the next installment. I can’t wait to read it!
